New and Noteworthy

  • JULY 21st Heat Conditions–This afternoon’s children’s golf lessons will not be held due to expected heat conditions. Linkster Level Golf will begin on July 28-August 18 (skip 8/4; make-up session will be planned at class for today’s missed session). Little Linksters will not be held today; remaining class dates are July 28 and August 11th (make-up session).

  • Job Opportunity: We are looking for a dynamic addition to our Promise Fellow program at Hastings Middle School. The Promise Fellow creates relationships with students who are identified as “falling between the cracks.” The result is improvement in attendance, academics and behavior. This is a terrific stipened opportunity for a recent college grad interested in working in the schools. Upon completion of service, the Promise Fellow receives $5000 toward student loans or additional schooling.   • Phillumeny–matchbook collecting. Many people enjoy this hobby, including Hastings residents Gene and Peggy Fuchs whose matchbook collection is on display this month at Tilden Community Center . Feel free to stop by any time this month to see the display.

  • Fifty Plus Game Nights!  Games are not just for kids.  Join your friends at Tilden Community Center on Wednesday evenings, June 4 through August 27, 6-8 p.m. for FREE Bocce Ball and Bean Bag Toss (in the Backyard), Pickle Ball (in the gym).  All equipment provided–FREE, bring your friends, no pre-registration required.

  • Safety Camp is coming up! This one-day camp teaches kids entering 3rd-5th grade a variety of safety related topics, including Fire Safety, Bike Safety and Personal Safety. Games, activities and learning sessions on Tuesday, July 22, Hastings High School Commons. Drop off between 7:30 and 8 a.m., pick up at 4:30 p.m. $20 register online at www.hastingsmn.gov/parks. Sponsored by Hastings Community Education, Hastings Fire, Police and Parks & Recreation and the YMCA.

  • Ready to Pick a Perfect Summer for your children ages K-9th grade?  Our Camp Horizons/Big Shots child care is accepting registrations for the summer program.  Click on the link to child care and then Pick a Perfect Summer for schedules and information, then click here to register online!
