Welcome to Tilden Community School Preschool!

My name is Colleen Thome.  This is my fifth year working for Hastings Schools and I am so happy to be here!  I grew up in West Saint Paul, MN and moved to this wonderful town of Hastings 14 years ago.   I went to a small college in Marshall, MN called Southwest State University where I earned a degree in History.  I received my teaching degree with a Masters at the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, MN.  I taught at the elementary level in St. Paul for many years until I landed here at Tilden Community School!

I enjoy being a preschool teacher!  I especially love to watch the learning come alive for children. It is so exciting.  I also love gardening, traveling and doing things outside with friends and family.

This is our fourth year in rolling out the all day program.  We continue to build our program to support child, families and their needs.  We believe that every child is a capable leaner.  We support them through their social/emotional, physical and academic growth by meeting them where they are in their development and building on their strengths. We know that making mistakes and promoting a growth mindset approach to learning will provide child with the tools they need to become life long learners.
