As we approach the end of the first semester, I want to take a moment to express my pride and appreciation for the remarkable growth and achievements of our students. It has been a semester full of hard work, resilience, and dedication, and I could not be more impressed with how our students have risen to the challenges they’ve encountered.
With finals just around the corner, I know many of our students are working diligently to prepare. I encourage all of our learners to stay focused, take care of their well-being, and trust in the efforts they've put forth so far. You have all done your best, and that is something to be incredibly proud of.
I wish each and every one of you the best of luck as you head into your final assessments. You’ve got this!
Thank you for your continued commitment to excellence, and let’s finish this semester strong together.
Warm regards,
Mr. Doran

December Rotary Student of the Month
Congratulations Nathan Barker! On behalf of the Hastings Rotary Club and Hastings High School, congratulations on being selected as the December, 2024 recipient of the Hastings Rotary “Student of the Month” Award. The Hastings Rotary Club recognizes Hastings High School seniors who exemplify Rotary’s motto of ‘Service Above Self’, as a way to reward and foster these ideals, and also build mutually rewarding relationships between school administration, staff, students, parents and the Rotary members.
You were nominated by Mr. Moore.
Here is what he had to say:
Nathan helps to make Hastings High School a great place for all - students and staff alike. Nathan is involved in numerous activities throughout the school: Choir, Show Choir, Theatre, Link Crew. In these activities, his peers look to him and he rises up as a leader. For example, he helped with Just Ken choreography for the Spring choir performance last year. Additionally, he is in the front row of show choir performances for his leadership and ability to be a role model for others. On top of this, he is stepping up as a leader in Link Crew - helping our 9th grade students smoothly transition to high school.
Over the past few years, it has been fun to see Nathan grow and mature into the fine young man he is today. I have seen him go up to students who are alone or not with anyone and sit next to them to help them feel better about coming to school. He checks in with a number of students and teachers each day to see how they are doing and brighten their day with a smile.
